The neighborhoods we serve are located in a food desert, a place that lacks access to affordable and high-quality fresh food. Traveling by foot or bus to grocery stores in neighboring communities is difficult. We now have partnerships through Second Harvest with Whole Foods, Aldi and Sprouts Farmers Market, and Starbucks that allow us to recover food a combined six days per week and distribute the food in the community through mobile food sites.
Mobile Food Mondays – On Mondays, we take donations to Village West Apartments at 4 PM. Village West Apartments, 4404 Tennessee Ave, Nashville, TN 37209. Event ends at 5 PM and happens rain or shine.
Mobile Food Wednesdays – On Wednesdays, we bring food donations to Indiana Ave. in front of Preston Taylor Ministries, 4014 Indiana Ave, 37209. 5-6 PM.
Mobile Food Tuesdays– Because Tuesday is the day when most donations are coming in, we load up tables and donations and take the food to the corner of 40th and Albion Street at 10:00 AM. Show up at 9:50 AM to unload the truck at the corner of 40th Ave. and Albion. Event ends by 10:30 AM and happens rain or shine.
Mobile Food Thursdays – On Thursday we take donations to Skyview Apartments at 4 PM. Skyview Apartments, 307 Susannah Ct, Nashville, TN 37209. Event ends at 5 PM and happens rain or shine.
Fresh Fridays – On Fridays, we meet at St. Luke’s Missionary Baptist Church, 2704 Torbett St., 37209 and individuals or families can pick up food from 9:00 – 11:00 AM.
Meals and Snack Bags – Like to cook? You are welcome to cook a meal for ministry happening or prep for future meals needed.
We offer weekly meals and Community Nights for our neighbors and families to enjoy. Our partnership with the local police precinct and other community non-profits has also improved the perception of law enforcement in the community, and crime rates are down 25% due to the recently established West Nashville Precinct Community Engagement initiative. Police officers show up at our events with one goal: to protect, support and invest in our families. Monday and Thursday Community Nights are on hold for the Summer months.
Wednesday Community Night – The original Community Night! Show up at 6 PM or stay for fun after grabbing food donations at 5 PM! Event ends at 7:30 PM. Temporary location, Preston Taylor Ministries, 4014 Indiana Ave, 37209.
Dream Streets – Dream Streets is an overarching ministry with a goal to build teams to be a constant presence in our neighbor’s lives. *First Saturday of the month, people are prayed for, invited to events and tangible needs are met throughout the month. Meet at Preston Taylor Ministries, 4014 Indiana Ave, 37209 at 10 AM the first Saturday of the month.
We not only partner with the next generation by providing community events and mentorship for kids and teens, but we also stand with their families helping them overcome adversities. With single mothers and their kids being our main demographic of service, we have a ministry called Dream Center Moms. We encourage these women to plan for themselves and their children and to stop the cycle of distress. They meet once a week to enjoy intentional community around a meal, and they receive other resources, (take out this comma) like counseling services and homeownership classes, that provide opportunities for growth emotionally, professionally and financially. Empowering single mothers can stop generational poverty in its tracks.
Dream Center Moms – Neighborhood Scout states that the Clifton Pike/40th Ave N neighborhood next to our ministry center, has more single mother households than 99.6% of the neighborhoods in the U.S. One of our goals is to support and encourage these moms on a weekly basis. Every Sunday at 11:30 AM we host a moms lunch for single moms. The children of these moms are fed in a separate space and provided entertainment while their moms enjoy a quiet time with other moms who share their same triumphs and struggles. This support continues after Sunday through volunteers providing consistent relationships. Event ends at 1:30 PM. Female only serving opportunity. Are you a mom? Join our FB Group, Dream Center Moms and email TJ Fletcher at email@example.com for more info.
Dream Center Moms Childcare – Volunteers provide care for the children of the moms who are in our Dream Center Moms group so they can have alone time. 11:30 AM-1:30 PM.
Summer is For Kids – In everything we do, we’re always building community. What better way to do that than during Summer break! Tuesdays-Thursdays during the months of June and July, we serve lunch to children 18 and under and provide events/activities following lunch.
This is a great opportunity for out-of-town or out-of-state groups to serve with us or local teens and teachers who are also out of school during these months. Email Sarah Morrison for more details.
